چکیده

Studies have shown that plasma glycoprotein with phospholipid-binding property is required for ACA., to bind to cardiolipin that has been coated onto plastic plates. This cofactor has been identified as β2-glycoprotein 1 (β2GPl). Later, it was found that β2GPl is indeed the antigen to which many ACA patients are actually binding and the phospholipid merely serves to link the β2GPl to the solid phase.

THE PREVALENCE OF ANTIPHOSPHOLIPI D SYNDROME IN PATIENTS WI TH RECURRENT PREGNANCY LOSS: A REPORT FROM SOUTH OF IR AN

In order to determine the role of different anti-phospholipid antibodies as an etiologic factor in recurrent pregnancy failure, a prospective study was done on one-hundred and thirty-eight women who had unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (group I) with one-hundred well-matched women with normal reproductive outcome allocated as control group (GIl). Sera from 138 patients and 100 controls...

Anti-cardiolipin antibody from a patient with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) recognizes only an epitope expressed by cardio- lipin/ 2-glycoprotein-I ( 2GPI) complex and induces APS

Objective As the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is characterized by antibodies which bind negatively charged phospholipids either directly or mainly through different target epitopes located on the beta-2-glycoprotein-I ( 2GPI) molecule, the aim of this study is to describe an additional target epitope for anti-cardiolipin binding. Methods The binding characteristics of affinity purified anti-...

Incidence of thromboembolic events in asymptomatic carriers of IgA anti ß2 glycoprotein-I antibodies

BACKGROUND The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is defined by simultaneous presence of vascular clinical events and antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL). The aPL considered as diagnostics are lupus anticoagulant and antibodies anticardiolipin (aCL) and anti-ß2 glycoprotein-I (aB2GP1). During recent years, IgA aB2GP1 antibodies have been associated with thrombotic events both in patients positive, a...

New clinical and laboratory finding in anti-phospholipid syndromes

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune disease with the appearance of anti-phospholipid antibody (ACLA), Anti β2GPI and lupus anticoagulant (LAC) in serum. The antigen-antibody reaction on cell surface leads to thrombosis, miscarriage and inflammation. Clinical findings are diverse and include thrombosis in veins and arteries, pregnancy loss, thrombocytopenia, neurological and...

Significance of anticardiolipin and anti-beta(2)-glycoprotein I antibodies in lupus nephritis.

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether anticardiolipin (aCL) and anti-beta(2)-glycoprotein I (anti-beta(2)GPI) antibodies are associated with lupus nephritis (group II patients), and whether there are differences in the prevalence of these two autoantibodies between group II patients and patients with non-nephritis SLE (group I) and primary antiphospholipid syndrome (PAPS) patients (group III). MET...
